Francesco Santullo is a leading surgical oncologist whose research focuses on advanced minimally invasive techniques for gastrointestinal and gynecologic cancers. His most impactful work, the 2016 paper “Gastric cancer: Current status of lymph node dissection” (186 citations), critically examines the D2 lymphadenectomy as the standard of care in the Far East for early and advanced gastric cancer, while also highlighting the growing role of endoscopic resections. More recently, Santullo has pioneered the use of robotic surgery for recurrent malignancies.
