About
Dr. Fevzi Bedir is a pioneering urologic surgeon whose work centers on advancing minimally invasive techniques for prostate cancer treatment, with a particular focus on robotic-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (RARP). As the first surgeon in Turkey trained under the European Association of Urology Robotic Urology Curriculum, Dr. Bedir has been instrumental in establishing and refining robotic prostate surgery in the region. His major contributions include demonstrating the safety and efficacy of RARP through a landmark study of 93 cases (12 citations), and pioneering comparative research showing that three-dimensional laparoscopic prostatectomy can achieve perioperative and functional outcomes comparable to robot-assisted approaches (8 citations). Dr. Bedir has also advanced surgical technique by developing protocols for concurrent inguinal hernia repair during RARP (8 citations) and introducing a novel personalized neuroprotective surgery using intraoperative neuromonitoring to preserve erectile function. His research extends beyond surgical outcomes to investigate biochemical markers, including serum paraoxonase activities as potential indicators of prostate malignancy (6 citations). Through these contributions, Dr. Bedir has established himself as a leading figure in robotic urologic surgery, with his work cited over 50 times and shaping best practices for minimally invasive prostate cancer management in Turkey and beyond.
