Federico Coccolini has established himself as a leading voice in minimally invasive and emergency surgery, with research that sits at the intersection of surgical innovation, oncology, and clinical education. His work is closely aligned with the World Society of Emergency Surgery (WSES), through which he has helped shape international consensus on cutting-edge surgical approaches. His most impactful contribution — a 2022 WSES position paper on robotic surgery in emergency settings, now accumulating 136 citations — helped define the boundaries and possibilities of robotic platforms in high-acuity, time-sensitive scenarios, a frontier that remains largely uncharted.
