About
Faruk Zorlu is a leading radiation oncologist whose research centers on the precision application of stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), particularly for challenging and recurrent tumors. His major contributions lie in demonstrating the efficacy and safety of robotic, CyberKnife-based platforms for treating complex anatomical sites. Zorlu’s seminal 2011 work, a retrospective comparison of robotic SBRT versus three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy for reirradiating locally recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma (76 citations), established a critical benchmark for salvage therapy. He further advanced the field by pioneering the use of SBRT for sinonasal mucosal melanoma and unresectable glomus jugulare tumors, and by comparing its dose distribution to intracavitary brachytherapy for cervical cancer (55 citations). His investigations into fractionated SRS for skull base chordomas and SBRT for recurrent abdominopelvic tumors have provided vital data on toxicity and local control.
