Dilip Ganguly is a leading atmospheric scientist whose research focuses on aerosol composition, radiative forcing, and the complex interactions between air pollution and climate, particularly over the Indo-Gangetic Basin (IGB). His most cited work pioneers methods to retrieve aerosol composition and concentration by integrating satellite and ground-based observations, such as CALIOP, AERONET, and MPLNET data. These contributions are critical because most General Circulation Models (GCMs) fail to accurately reproduce aerosol optical depth (AOD) peaks over the IGB, a major source region.
