About
Daniel Buergy is a leading radiation oncologist whose research focuses on stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for liver metastases and the emerging field of cardiac radioablation. His major contribution lies in demonstrating that active motion-compensation during liver SBRT achieves excellent local control for oligometastatic disease, as shown in his highly cited 2021 pooled multi-platform cohort analysis (21 citations). This work established a benchmark for treating liver tumors with precision. Buergy also played a pivotal role in the RAdiosurgery for VENtricular TAchycardia (RAVENTA) trial, where he led a multicenter, multiplatform benchmarking study for treatment planning in cardiac radioablation (12 citations). His 2023 long-term MRI analysis further characterized normal tissue changes after liver SBRT, providing critical insights for multimodal treatment planning. Through these contributions, Buergy has advanced both liver SBRT and cardiac radioablation, demonstrating the power of motion management and collaborative trial design to improve patient outcomes.
