About

Corina Postelnicu is a researcher focused on the intersection of factory automation, energy efficiency, and industrial digitization. Her work addresses the critical challenge of modernizing manufacturing systems to meet evolving market demands while reducing environmental impact. Postelnicu’s major contributions center on retrofitting legacy automation systems for enhanced flexibility, reconfigurability, and real-time awareness of energy, safety, and quality parameters. She pioneered the use of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Web Services to implement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for energy-efficient asset management, enabling factories to monitor and optimize energy consumption at the asset level. Her most cited paper (21 citations) provides a practical roadmap for transforming rigid factory testbeds into responsive, data-aware environments. Postelnicu also advanced open science in manufacturing by publishing an energy consumption-relevant factory automation dataset in the cloud, bridging the gap between signal processing experts and shop-floor engineers. This work fosters collaborative optimization for energy savings, making her research highly relevant for Industry 4.0 and sustainable manufacturing transitions.
