About
Connie Palle’s research focuses on advancing surgical care for women with endometrial cancer, particularly through the use of robotic-assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy (RALH). Her work has been instrumental in evaluating the clinical, economic, and patient-centered outcomes of this minimally invasive approach. In a landmark randomized clinical trial, she demonstrated that adding a transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block to standard pain management significantly improves recovery after RALH, a finding cited over 40 times. Palle also conducted the first prospective cohort study examining health-related quality of life after RALH for endometrial cancer, revealing important insights into patient well-being. Her cost-analysis research, with 30 citations, showed that while RALH has higher upfront costs than total abdominal hysterectomy, it reduces hospital resource use. Additionally, she explored the patient experience of robotic surgery through qualitative methods, highlighting the emotional and physical journey of women treated for early-stage disease. Palle’s work on implementing a multidisciplinary robotic center at a high-volume university hospital has served as a model for integrating robotic surgery across urology, gynecology, and gastrointestinal oncology.
