Christine Watremez is a pioneering cardiac surgeon whose work has significantly advanced the field of minimally invasive mitral valve repair. Her primary research focus is on robotic-assisted cardiac surgery, particularly for degenerative mitral regurgitation (MR), where she has demonstrated exceptional clinical outcomes. In her landmark 2017 study, "Robotic mitral valve repair: a European single-centre experience," Watremez reported on 134 patients who underwent robotic MV repair using the da Vinci Si system between 2012 and 2016. Her work showed that this technique, performed through a mini-thoracotomy, offers excellent safety and efficacy, with high repair success rates and low morbidity.
