About
Chetan Pasrija is a leading cardiothoracic surgeon and researcher whose work focuses on advancing minimally invasive coronary surgery and optimizing outcomes for patients with advanced heart failure. His most cited paper, "Cost and Outcome of Minimally Invasive Techniques for Coronary Surgery Using Robotic Technology" (2018, 23 citations), provides a critical comparative analysis of totally endoscopic coronary artery bypass (TECAB) and robotic-assisted minimally invasive coronary artery bypass (RA-MIDCAB). This study demonstrated that while both techniques offer reduced morbidity compared to traditional sternotomy, RA-MIDCAB achieves superior cost-effectiveness and shorter operative times without compromising graft patency. Beyond this work, Pasrija has made significant contributions to the management of cardiogenic shock, including pioneering research on the use of temporary mechanical circulatory support devices such as the Impella and venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO). His investigations have helped refine patient selection and weaning protocols, directly influencing clinical guidelines. With over 50 peer-reviewed publications and numerous presentations at national meetings, Pasrija’s research has been cited extensively, shaping contemporary practice in both coronary revascularization and mechanical circulatory support. His work exemplifies the integration of surgical innovation with rigorous outcomes analysis.
