Bryce Croll is a pioneering figure in high-Arctic astronomy, whose work has fundamentally reshaped our understanding of Earth’s most extreme potential observatory sites. His research focuses on site characterization, robotic instrumentation, and the unique atmospheric conditions of polar regions. Croll’s major contribution lies in systematically assessing the mountains of northwestern Ellesmere Island, Nunavut—the highest peaks within 10 degrees of the North Pole—as viable astronomical platforms.
