About
Birgitte Charabi is a Danish head and neck surgeon and clinical researcher at Copenhagen University Hospital (Rigshospitalet), whose work has significantly advanced the surgical management of oropharyngeal and head and neck cancers. Her research is concentrated in two primary areas: transoral robotic surgery (TORS) and image-guided surgical innovation, with a particular focus on oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC). Charabi has been instrumental in establishing and refining TORS as a viable treatment alternative to radiotherapy in Denmark, contributing foundational feasibility studies, long-term survival data, and quality-of-life analyses that collectively span over a decade of follow-up.
