About

Barbara Sitek is a leading figure in functional proteomics and neurobiology, whose work has fundamentally advanced our understanding of how cellular signaling drives disease. Her research centers on the dynamic interplay between protein expression and receptor activation, with a particular focus on neurotrophin signaling pathways. In her seminal 2005 study, Sitek pioneered the use of two-dimensional fluorescence difference gel electrophoresis (2D-DIGE) coupled with mass spectrometry to map the proteomic landscape triggered by ligand activation of Trk-receptors.
