About
Barbara Sargent is a pioneering researcher at the intersection of developmental robotics and pediatric rehabilitation. Her work centers on using socially assistive humanoid robots to encourage and study infant leg-motion training, particularly for infants at risk of developmental delays. Sargent’s major contribution lies in demonstrating that noncontact, contingent robot interactions—based on reward learning and imitation—can positively influence infant movement patterns and motivation.
