B. Holben is a leading figure in atmospheric science, best known for founding and directing the Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET), a globally distributed ground-based remote sensing network that has become the gold standard for aerosol observations. His research focuses on aerosol optical properties, their spatial and temporal variability, and their critical role in climate forcing and air quality.
