Antonio Hurtado’s research bridges the seemingly disparate worlds of surgical oncology and socially assistive robotics, united by a commitment to improving patient and elder care. His early work in urological oncology is exemplified by his highly cited 2014 study, “Comparison of open and robotic-assisted prostatectomy: The University of British Columbia experience” (27 citations), which provided critical, real-world outcomes and cost data comparing surgical approaches at a major tertiary center.
