About

Anselm Boy is a leading urologic surgeon whose research focuses on advancing minimally invasive robotic techniques for complex renal and prostate surgeries. His work has been instrumental in defining the limits and expanding the applications of robotic partial nephrectomy, particularly for completely endophytic renal tumors—a notoriously challenging surgical scenario. In a landmark 2018 study (50 citations), he compared trifecta outcomes of robotic versus open partial nephrectomy, demonstrating that robotic approaches can achieve comparable oncologic and functional results for these difficult cases. Boy also pioneered the completely intracorporeal robotic ileal ureteric replacement, a complex reconstructive procedure that offers patients a minimally invasive alternative. His most impactful contribution, however, is the prospective randomized multicenter ProLy trial (2022, 34 citations), which showed that bilateral peritoneal flaps significantly reduce the incidence and complications of lymphoceles after robotic radical prostatectomy with pelvic lymph node dissection.
