About
Anjana Singh is a pioneering surgeon and researcher advancing the field of robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery. Her work focuses on the clinical feasibility, ergonomic safety, and multi-specialty application of novel robotic systems, particularly the Versius® platform by CMR Surgical. In her landmark 2021 case series—the first large-scale, multi-specialty assessment of the Versius® system—she demonstrated the safe initiation and practical feasibility of robotic surgery across diverse disciplines, earning 39 citations and establishing a foundational benchmark for new robotic platforms. More recently, her VOLCANO randomised controlled trial (2024, 32 citations) addressed a critical, understudied issue: surgeon ergonomics. By proving that robotic-assisted colorectal resection significantly reduces ergonomic risk compared to traditional laparoscopy, Singh’s work directly tackles the epidemic of musculoskeletal injuries among surgeons.
