About
Alon Mass is a urologic surgeon and researcher whose work centers on advancing robotic-assisted kidney surgery, particularly partial nephrectomy for renal tumors. His major contributions lie in defining perioperative outcomes and risk factors in complex patient populations. In a landmark multicentre analysis of 1,791 patients, Mass identified the incidence and predictors of urinary fistula after robot-assisted partial nephrectomy, a critical complication that informs surgical planning and patient counseling (73 citations). He further demonstrated that robotic partial nephrectomy is safe and effective in obese patients, a group traditionally at higher surgical risk, using a large multi-institutional database (26 citations).
