About
Alexis Patsias is a head and neck surgeon whose pioneering work centers on transoral robotic surgery (TORS) and advanced intraoperative imaging for oropharyngeal cancer. His major contributions lie in demonstrating the feasibility and safety of minimally invasive robotic approaches for complex pathologies. Notably, his 2014 study on transoral robotic excision of ectopic lingual thyroid (31 citations) established TORS as a viable, low-morbidity alternative to traditional open surgery for patients with severe obstructive symptoms or suspected malignancy, significantly reducing surgical trauma.
