About
Alessandra Arce Hai is a pioneering researcher in Educational Robotics (ER) and teacher education, with a focus on democratizing access to technology in Latin America. Her landmark 2020 paper, "Demystifying Educational Robotics with FOCORE," introduced the first Latin American research network in ER, uniting universities and federal institutes from Brazil and Peru. This work proposed a groundbreaking framework integrating very low-cost software and hardware technologies with new methodologies and curricula for continuing teacher education and basic education students in Brazil. With 9 citations, the paper has become a foundational reference for inclusive, scalable robotics education. Arce Hai’s major contribution lies in bridging the gap between advanced technology and under-resourced educational settings, empowering teachers to implement robotics without prohibitive costs. Her research addresses critical challenges in STEM education, particularly in developing regions, by fostering multidisciplinary collaboration and practical, accessible solutions. Through FOCORE, she has not only advanced academic discourse but also created tangible pathways for transforming classroom practice, making her a key figure in the movement to equip educators and students with 21st-century skills.
