About
Dr. Adam C. ElNaggar is a gynecologic oncologist whose research focuses on optimizing surgical outcomes for women with endometrial cancer, particularly through the advancement of minimally invasive robotic techniques. His work has been instrumental in demonstrating the safety and efficacy of robotic-assisted staging as an alternative to traditional laparotomy, especially in elderly and high-risk patient populations. A landmark 2016 study (31 citations) showed that robotic surgery significantly reduces perioperative morbidity and hospital stays compared to open surgery in older patients. Dr. ElNaggar has also pioneered protocols for same-day discharge after robotic hysterectomy (14 citations), challenging conventional postoperative care models. His contributions extend to pain management, with a randomized trial comparing celecoxib to ketorolac (14 citations), and to enhanced recovery through a placebo-controlled trial on transdermal scopolamine for preventing postoperative nausea. By systematically improving recovery pathways and reducing surgical trauma, Dr. ElNaggar’s research has helped establish robotic surgery as a standard of care, directly improving quality of life for thousands of women with gynecologic cancers.
