About

Shane Miersch is a leading figure in the development of high-throughput technologies for generating renewable, recombinant antibodies, a field critical to both basic biology and clinical research. His work directly addresses the limitations of traditional monoclonal antibodies, which are often not renewable or standardized. Miersch’s most impactful contribution is the creation of an industrialized platform for producing validated recombinant antibodies, as detailed in his highly cited 2015 paper (120 citations), which successfully generated reagents for 346 transcription factors. This work provides a permanent, scalable resource for the scientific community. He further advanced the field with a scalable selection method from phage-displayed synthetic antibody libraries (33 citations), offering an alternative to conventional hybridoma technology. By focusing on antibody engineering and high-throughput screening, Miersch has established a new paradigm for producing high-quality, sequence-defined affinity reagents, enabling more reproducible and robust research across the life sciences.
