Roberta Gunelli is a leading figure in urologic oncology, whose research has fundamentally advanced the application of robotic surgery for renal cancer. Her work centers on two critical challenges: preserving tactile feedback in minimally invasive procedures and optimizing surgical precision for small renal masses. Gunelli’s most impactful study, “An experimental study about haptic feedback in robotic surgery: may visual feedback substitute tactile feedback?” (2015, 91 citations), is a landmark investigation that systematically compared haptic and visual cues during robotic procedures.
