About
Dr. Laura Kidd is a urologic surgeon and researcher whose work centers on minimally invasive surgical techniques for complex urologic conditions, particularly upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) and iatrogenic fistulae. Her most impactful contribution is the landmark ROBUUST Collaboration study (45 citations), which identified risk factors for intravesical recurrence after robotic nephroureterectomy—a critical step toward reducing the 20–50% recurrence rate that has long plagued UTUC patients. Dr. Kidd has also advanced the field of robotic reconstructive surgery, publishing the largest multi-institutional series on robotic repair of vesicovaginal and ureterovaginal fistulae (18 citations), demonstrating that robotic approaches can achieve excellent outcomes with less morbidity. Her expertise extends to challenging benign conditions, as shown in her work on bilateral renal oncocytomas and the role of renal biopsy. Notably, Dr. Kidd has contributed to the literature on rare complications, including a case report on biopsy tract seeding after renal mass biopsy. Through these contributions, she has helped define best practices for robotic urologic oncology and reconstruction, earning recognition as a leader in minimally invasive urologic surgery.
