About
Lars Magne Eri is a leading urologic surgeon and researcher whose work has fundamentally shaped the surgical management of prostate cancer. His research centers on optimizing surgical techniques and preoperative planning, with a particular focus on the transition from laparoscopic to robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RALP). Eri’s most impactful contribution is a landmark randomized controlled trial investigating whether preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can reduce positive surgical margins during radical prostatectomy (69 citations). This work, along with a 12-year follow-up study, provides critical evidence on the long-term oncological outcomes of MRI-guided surgery.
