About
Junya Kitadani is a surgical oncologist whose research has established him as a leading authority on robotic approaches to gastric cancer treatment. His work centers on minimally invasive gastrectomy, with a particular focus on comparing robotic gastrectomy (RG) with conventional laparoscopic gastrectomy (LG) in terms of surgical safety, oncological efficacy, and postoperative outcomes. Kitadani's most influential contribution is his landmark 2021 systematic analysis of short-term outcomes in RG versus LG, which has accumulated an impressive 223 citations and demonstrated that robotic approaches may significantly reduce intra-abdominal infectious complications, including pancreatic fistula and abscess formation.
