B. W. Scheithauer is a towering figure in neuropathology, best known for his seminal contributions to the classification and prognostic assessment of brain tumors, particularly gliomas. His research has fundamentally shaped how pathologists diagnose and grade cerebral astrocytomas, integrating cytogenetic analysis into routine neuro-oncological practice.
