\nThis chapter provides examples of disruptions for each of the three major shifts — datafication, digitization, and disintermediation, and articulates the potential impact on the traditional work processes, workplace, and workers from the angle of psychological impact. It also describes the information revolution that is intensified by artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet-of-Things, three-dimensional (3D) printing and other disrupting shifts. The chapter further describes how AI combined with robotics is bound to impact many aspects of work environment. The fast changing environment requires in-depth research and understanding of the implications that digitization, datafication, and disintermediation of work will have on our lives and organizational structures and norms. Many questions arise in relation to this future, to the opportunities to use the advancements in the fields of data, analytics, and neuroscience to better understand human behavioral patterns and ways to influence them.
