Abstract
This paper deals with the state of the art and some development trends in Germany of sensor-controlled equipment for industrial automation. It gives a review of research and application work done at the Fraunhofer-Institut (IPA). The basis of this application work is a system- and hardware-independent software library that delivers structured and modular tools for efficient handling of picture data. One robot-sensor combination is discussed.
