Pipeline Rehabilitation: Advances in Polyurea Spray Application

Abstract
Over 65% of all municipal pipeline systems are over 30 years old, with over 8% past their useful life expectancy. This article examines polyurea technologies for pipeline rehabilitation. Methods described include trenchless rehabilitation (including pipe bursting/jacking and cementitious lining), cured-in-place pipelining and sprayed-in-place pipelining (SIPP). SIPP polyurea is detailed along with robotic-in-place polyurea application. The authors suggest that the use of polyurea technology is a valued solution for pipeline application work.
