Abstract

This paper presents the use of Hadoop based prognostics technology of spot-welding system in an industrial equipment maintenance setting. Beijing Benz plant faces issue of equipment failure for spot welding robots installed at lines in Body shop. This unexpected failure creates considerable losses in terms of productivity and cost. There is need to predict such failures well in advance to reduce downtime and cost associated with these failures.
