Abstract
This paper presents preliminary results of a research project on the influence of students' participation in educational robotics competitions on their career choices in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). As part of an evaluation project of the World Robot Olympiad, an international educational robotics competition for students aged 8-19 years, we conducted a questionnaire study (N = 59) with alumni of this competition (students who participated in in this competition in the past years) and investigated the competition's influence on their career choices in STEM.
