Abstract

Contemporary Spine Surgery" 15 Spine surgery is a multidisciplinary field in which the implementation of novel technologies and 16techniques has fostered significant advancements in the last decade. The utilization of robotics and 17 navigation systems has made it possible to perform accurate planning and minimize intraoperative 18 complications including screw malpositioning and increased blood loss (Vadala et al., 2020). 19 Furthermore, the increasing use of microscopy and endoscopy, as well as the integration with both 20 pre-operative and intra-operative advanced imaging, is continuously contributing to the development 21 of minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS) techniques (Hahn and Park, 2021 of cases in the last years, followed by a slight reduction due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which 82 raised interesting insights on future strategies to reduce the impact of such a devastating event. 83
