Abstract

We introduce a robotic inspection system for carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) parts. The system determines 3D fibre orientations on the inspected surfaces. We outline how sensors and robot are integrated to perform this inspection task. Photometric stereo analysis of carbon fibre parts so far has only been done for flat surfaces. Our system brings this approach to the next level, enabling inspection of CFRP surfaces of more complex shapes.
