Abstract
According to a large number of studies, the advantages of endoscopic approaches for thymectomy compared to traditional open surgery are clear. Meanwhile, it seems appropriate to further study minimally invasive approaches in thymus surgery, including the improvement of surgical techniques and the development of recommendations for choosing the method of endoscopic thymectomy. It should be noted that such endoscopic surgical interventions as videothoracoscopic thymectomy and robot-assisted thymectomy through unilateral lateral or subxiphoidal approaches are currently the most commonly used and have a proven level of efficiency and safety. Also known is a bilateral transthoracic approach and interventions performed through an endoscopic single incision. At the same time, when choosing one or another method of endoscopic thymectomy, it is advisable to rely on the level of technical equipment of the medical institution, the experience of the operating surgeon in relation to the relevant operations, as well as the characteristics of the patient’s disease in each case, for example, the location of the neoplasm, its size and invasion of surrounding tissues.
