Abstract

Today, loading machine tools in small and middle sized enterprises is mainly done manually by machine operators. Low quantity and high variance in mechanical components production require a high flexible automation process which is usually not achievable for contract manufacturers. This paper describes a concept of a mobile robot platform - consisting of a collaborative robot, gripping technology and an intuitive task-based programming system - which enables small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) to temporary automate the machine loading process.
