Abstract

A wireless power transfer system for automatically charging the inspection robot in cable tunnels is proposed in this paper. The design procedure of the magnetic coupling resonant wireless charging system is presented. The ZVS condition of the Class-E inverter, and the constant-current charging function are discussed. Also, an infrared module is added to the control system to detect the alignment of the transmitter and receiver coils so as to automatically switch the operation modes between charging and standby. Experimental results verify that the designed wireless charging system can be operated stably and efficiently.
