Abstract
The advancement of wireless technologies for mobile broadband communications, health care, robotics, and other application verticals demands reduced latency, increased capacity, and denser penetration in both urban and rural environments. Wireless data rates have doubled every 18 months over the last 30 years. It is therefore expected that faster connections will be a pressing requirement in the near future. Terabits-per-second (Tbps) data rates will need to be a manifest realty in the next five years and, presumably, a prime design objective in 6G networks <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="ref1" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">[1]</xref> .
