Abstract
Coronary revascularization is one of the most common surgical interventions in developed nations. Its present success results from advances in diagnosing and treating coronary occlusive disease, the extracorporeal oxygenator, anesthesia and medical therapy. Future developments in robotic surgery, gene therapy, and the implantable artificial heart will continue to improve outcomes.
