Abstract
A robot that can inspect home environment and give necessary information in a way people can easily understand is important in the modern society. A three-wheeled mobile robot is designed, which is installed with several types of inspecting sensors and can cruise in home. It can not only give the general information such as the room temperature but also detect dangerous gas and fire, and give alarm through voice, short message and display on remote computer by wireless network. To meet the cognition of people about alarm degree the alarm is classified into 4 grades with a modal model based on Gauss distribution, and the fuzzy alarm is given finally. The possible fire alarm is also given in 4 grades, which is classified by a support vector machine according to the combination of temperature and gases signals. To provide sufficient and accurate information without bothering person an alarm strategy is proposed. The experiments show a good inspecting and alarming ability when the robot is near the dangerous source.
