Abstract

More than half of all the invoice processing tasks requires manual input and in this times of increasing automation and digitisation the companies are missing out possibilities for making their departments more dynamic and economical. Maximum manual input indicate significant inefficiencies, prone to error results which can lead to unpaid invoices and increase in labor costs. The data received from the customers is typically unstructured and the manual process is time-consuming. Thus, the automation of time consuming and repetitive tasks for employees is becoming more and more popular. One of the technologies that can be used to leverage its demerits is Robotic Process Automation (RPA). Invoices that companies receive from their clients arrive in multiple different formats: as a Microsoft Word document, a PDF document, or a text file. RPA software robots can automate input, rectify errors, and can do some part of decision-making which is required while processing invoices. Thus automation is able to limit errors in such processes and minimize the need for manual exception handling. It is of utmost importance to develop a software bot where sub-processes such as manual data entry and data validation can be eliminated completely. This paper describes the use of UIPath as an automation tool for generating invoices of the customers. Methodology used is regular expression for data scraping and required pattern matching from the input. PDF extraction is done by using appropriate features that are provided by UIPath.
