Technosexuality

Abstract

Technosexuality refers to the overlap between human sexuality and technology. It has two common formulations. The first is based on an expansive cultural notion, in which technology is viewed as a social force that shapes or configures human sexuality. The second is a more narrow notion, referring to a human's sexual attraction to technologies. Research on technosexuality has focused on embodied interactions, online performance of the self, the roles technologies have in constituting sexual experience, sexual simulation (e.g., sex robots and virtual reality), and emergent sexual practices and attitudes that arise from innovations in this domain.
