Door and light control prototype using Intel Galileo based Internet of Things: (Case study: Embedded and robotics laboratory, department of computer engineering, Diponegoro University)

Technology continues to evolve from time to time. Technological developments offer work relief for users, who used to need full human intervention. Now only a few steps away that a work done by human intervention. One of the emerging technologies is room automation. The use of the internet also provides benefits to facilitate human in doing the work. The Internet has become a must-have tool in many places. Automation and the internet can be parallel by using IoT (Internet of Things). IoT is a system that consists of many components that able to communicate and interact, between the device itself and with other devices in a computer network. This research focuses on the implementation of the automation system of lights and door in the room using TMP36 as Temperature Sensor, Touch Sensor, Selenoid Door Lock, Keypad, BH1750FVI as Ambient Light Sensor, Lamp, LED Indicator and Intel Galileo as the application of IoT. The system can be accessed on an internet browser using computer or smartphone. This system provides dynamically changing web pages. The system can send commands to control devices in the room such as turning on and off the lights and open and close the door. The accuracy of BH1750FVI sensor reached 95.8% in comparison with Lux meter when the lamp off. The accuracy of the BH1750FVI sensor reached 92.32% in comparison with Lux meter when the lamp on. The accuracy of the TMP36 sensor reached 94.17% in comparison with temperature meter. The door can be opened with the correct password input and the control button on smartphone.
