摘要

The primary aim of this project is to investigate if various every day human activities can be replaced by autonomous intelligent systems. Robotics, initially designed for assisting people, turned out to be much expensive for small but time consuming home activities. The challenge in this project is to prove that even with low cost gear an intelligent lawn mower could be built in order to save time and effort of humans by taking care of yards automatically without human's surveillance. Main concerns to implement the project are the movement scenario of the device, an efficient control algorithm, appropriate sensors selection, while the cost of electronic and mechanical parts should be kept low. In the conclusions section, the outcomes referring to problems that appear during the experimentation with the vehicle will be presented as well as the methodology to overcome them. In addition, all future extensions and improvements of the device will be discussed in the same section that forms the rest of this paper body.
