摘要

This chapter addresses the challenge of collaborative research between dancers, scenographers and digital technologists, seeking a model by which a common language can be developed between the collaborators. It describes how the Performance Robotics project achieved cycles of iterative knowledge exchange between dancers and robotics engineers through embodiment exercises. Using similar open-ended creative processes, the Projecting Performance project resulted in computer operators ‘dancing’ via the control of animated sprites projected on stage alongside performers. The chapter proposes that dancers’ knowledge of movement principles and qualities can inform and be informed by rich dialogues with digital technologists.
