Younbo Jung is a leading researcher in human–robot interaction (HRI) and human–computer interaction (HCI), whose work explores how physical embodiment, social cues, and psychological factors shape our relationships with machines. His seminal 2006 paper, cited over 490 times, demonstrated that physically embodied social agents—especially those offering tactile interaction—are more effective than disembodied ones, particularly for lonely individuals.
