About
Yong Wook Jung is a prominent gynecologic surgeon and researcher whose career has been dedicated to advancing minimally invasive surgical techniques, particularly robotic surgery, in the field of gynecologic oncology and benign gynecology. Based at Yonsei University Health System, Jung has been a pioneering voice in demonstrating the feasibility and clinical advantages of robot-assisted procedures, from complex cancer staging to myomectomy and adenomyomectomy. His most influential contributions include early comparative studies establishing robotic staging surgery for endometrial cancer and robotic radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer, works that collectively garnered over 180 citations and helped legitimize robotic platforms in gynecologic oncology worldwide. Jung has also been instrumental in developing and refining single-site robotic surgery, publishing extensively on techniques that reduce operative time, blood loss, and patient recovery burden. More recently, his research has expanded into intraoperative fluorescence imaging using indocyanine green to prevent ureteral injuries during complex procedures, reflecting his commitment to surgical safety innovation. Across more than a decade of work, Jung's contributions have meaningfully shaped how minimally invasive gynecologic surgery is practiced and taught globally.
