About

Y Goto is a surgical oncologist specializing in the management of complex urologic malignancies, with a particular focus on renal cell carcinoma and congenital renal anomalies. Their most notable contribution is the first reported case of robot-assisted radical nephrectomy for right renal cell carcinoma arising in a horseshoe kidney, a rare and surgically challenging condition. In this landmark 2025 study, Goto demonstrated the safe application of intraoperative camera positioning combined with indocyanine green and near-infrared fluorescence catheter guidance to navigate the aberrant anatomy of a horseshoe kidney in a 70-year-old patient with cT3aN0M0 disease. This work represents a significant technical advance in minimally invasive oncologic surgery, providing a reproducible roadmap for surgeons facing this uncommon presentation. While their citation count is currently modest at a single citation, the novelty and clinical relevance of this contribution position Goto as an emerging authority in robotic urologic oncology and the surgical management of renal anomalies. Their work bridges the gap between advanced robotic technology and complex congenital anatomy, offering new possibilities for safe, effective treatment of rare renal tumors.
