Dr. Xianfei Zhang is a pioneering thoracic surgeon whose research focuses on advancing minimally invasive surgical techniques for lung cancer and mediastinal disease. His work centers on comparing and optimizing robotic-assisted thoracic surgery (RATS) against conventional video-assisted approaches. Dr. Zhang’s landmark study, "Robot-assisted thoracoscopic surgery for mediastinal masses," demonstrated the feasibility and safety of the da Vinci robotic system for resecting mediastinal masses, detailing tailored surgical approaches for different anatomical regions—a contribution that has garnered 72 citations.
